Cemeteries in small towns can be a good source of information for researchers; usually the head of the family in the 1800’s had a gravestone. Sometimes it takes a lot of tracking to find them if they were buried in a private family cemetery on an old homestead that was long ago abandoned.

At the county registry of deeds you can have a copy of the old maps of a town made for a small fee and a lot of times these show the old cemeteries. They also show where the family property was located as well as the locations of cemeteries, stores, and the town’s post office and include the lot numbers of the property. These can be valuable research tools.
